Trial & Return Policy

Please review our trial and return policy before purchasing a saddle. We encourage you to reach out to us with any questions to ensure proper fit! Thank you!

International Orders
  • Goldfinch Fine Tack ships to most countries all over the world! Please email us for international shipping rates! While we are not able to offer an international trial, the price of most saddles can have a reduced price for a final sale without a trial. We are happy to discuss fit for both horse and rider! Please note that all prices are in USD. We recommend that you become familiar with your country’s customs and import duties and fees that will be collected on delivery.

Purchase Without Trial

  • If you are confident you know what you and your horse both need and you wish to purchase a saddle outright without a trial— Good news!— Most saddles are available for purchase with a small discount if you don’t need a trial! Please be aware that final sale purchases are NOT eligible for refund. If you are not certain that a saddle will work for you, we highly recommend that you opt for a trial instead of a final sale. Please email us if you are interested in purchasing a saddle without a trial!

  • PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU PAY FOR A SADDLE WITH AFFRIM, THE SALE IS FINAL. DUE TO THE HIGH TRANSACTION FEES, WE CANNOT OFFER A REDUCED PRICE FOR A FINAL SALE SADDLE THAT IS PAID FOR WITH AFFIRM. 

Saddle Trial Policy for Out-of-State Customers:

  • IF YOU PAY FOR A SADDLE WITH AFFRIM THE SALE IS FINAL. WE CANNOT OFFER TRIALS WITH AFFIRM AS THEY DO NOT REFUND MERCHANT FEES ON RETURNED MERCHANDISE. ALSO DUE TO THE HIGH FEES, WE CANNOT OFFER A REDUCED PRICE FOR A FINAL SALE SADDLE THAT IS PAID FOR WITH AFFIRM. 

  • If you pay with a credit card, all saddles come with a trial after checkout! Unless you have contacted me for a final sale discount, you will automatically receive a trial! 

  • Colorado customers have different policies. Please scroll down to read them! 

  • Accessory purchases are final sale only and are not eligible for exchange or refund.

  • Full payment is expected before shipping.

  • Any saddle orders cancelled before shipping for trial will incur a 2.9% restocking fee on the order total (shipping costs included). 

  • All saddles shipped within the US have a flat rate depending on the delivery speed you would like. Shipping options are available at checkout. We offer Ground, 3 Day, 2 Day, and Next Day flat rate shipping for domestic purchases. 

  • Trial period is 5 days starting the day after you receive the saddle. Short trial period extensions may be available on a case-by-case basis.

  • A signature will be required for delivery. Please keep this in mind when choosing a delivery address for your order.

  • If the saddle arrives to the buyer and has been damaged during shipping, please contact me immediately and take photos of the damage to the box and the saddle.

  • If the saddle does not end up working and a return needs to be made, please make sure it is shipped out by the end of the fifth day of your trial. Please send the saddle via FedEx or UPS with full insurance.

  • Your trial period is your opportunity to inspect the saddle, and check fit for you and your horse. If you are wanting to have your saddle fitter look at the saddle on your horse, please coordinate this appointment before ordering a saddle for trial. I ask that no modifications are made during your trial period.

  • I know that you will treat the saddle with the same care that I do, and return it in its original condition. Please keep the saddle in a smoke-free environment, avoid sliding it across wooden surfaces, away from horse teeth and scratching claws. If your stirrup leathers have a rough edge, please wrap your leathers in a soft cloth to avoid scuffing the flaps. Please do not ride in the rain/snow. Please ride in breeches and not in jeans. Please do not run stirrups up on saddle and take care to not scratch it with zippers and fingernails while dismounting.

  • If the saddle becomes damaged while in your possession, the saddle cannot be returned for a refund. Damaged saddles returned to me will be sent back to you at your expense, and a refund will not be given. 

  • Please clean the saddle with mild saddle soap prior to return. Saddles that are returned dirty are subject to a $30 cleaning fee.

  • If I do not hear from you at the end of your trial period, it will be assumed that you are keeping the saddle.

  • If the saddle is not returned promptly and is in the mail by the end of your last day of trial, the sale will be considered final and a refund will not be given.

  • In the event of a return, please notify me that the saddle is being sent back and include the tracking number. Buyer is responsible for the cost of return shipping and insurance. Shipping insurance is required.

  • If you choose to ship the saddle without shipping insurance, you will be responsible for the cost of repair if it is damaged during transit, or the replacement cost if the saddle is lost in transit.

  • Out-of-state buyers are asked to please retain the box and packaging material in the event of a return.

  • If you need to make a return, please repackage the saddle as it was sent to you, as it was packaged in order to protect the most vulnerable parts of the saddle during shipping.

  • Please do not use packing peanuts or large pieces of foam to repackage the saddle.

  • To insure the saddle during shipping, I recommend using a third party shipping insurance company for the bulk of the insurance cost. www.u-pic.com is a preferred shipping insurance company (make sure you have your tracking number handy!). You can insure the bulk of the value of the saddle through U-PIC, and the remaining value can be insured through your preferred shipper. I recommend FedEx, UPS, or USPS Priority for return shipping. Please do not use USPS Ground to return the saddle as they can allow up to two weeks for delivery. Third party shipping stores are not recommended as they will charge a much higher cost for a shipping label.

  • Return address: Please ship the saddle back to the return address on your outgoing shipping label. If you no longer have your shipping label, please message or email us!

Colorado Customers:

  • Goldfinch Fine Tack is located in Longmont, Colorado. I am available by appointment only. 

  • Local trials are easy and have a different process than trials for out-of-state buyers. Please message me or email me to make an appointment. I run my business out of my home and am available by appointment. You are welcome to come collect saddles to try on your horse! Please note that I am in a residential area and do NOT have a facility here to try saddles on your horse

  • Customers who live within 75 miles of Longmont, CO, and choose to order a saddle through the website (instead of coming to collect the saddle) will incur a 2.9% restocking fee if a return needs to be made. If you are local and need to have the saddle shipped, please email me and I will arrange a credit card pre-authorization. 

  • In-person barn fittings are available for local customers for a fee. Please contact me for more information!
